The left shoulder patch is of the distinguished US Army "2nd Armored Division". A unit created in 1940 and currently at Fort Hood,
Texas.
The blue badge with inset rifle is the "Combat Infantryman Badge" (CIB), the U.S. Army combat service recognition decoration
awarded to soldiers who personally fought in active ground combat while an assigned member of either an infantry or a Special
Forces unit, of brigade size or smaller, any time after 6 December 1941.
Great story, debey, thanks for sharing it with us. I remember all the times that I would return home and seeing my Mom and the tears in her eyes. And when I married my wonderful wife, the looks on her face as I walked toward her in the airports. It's always a good felling to know that you have loved one that miss you.

I will never forget taking my son back to the airport, after R & R. or the kiss he "threw" me, from the top of the escalator.
