PERSIAN GULF (Nov. 27, 2008) Captain Robert P. Irelan, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS
Iwo Jima (LHD-7) and Coloniel Mark J. Desens, commanding officer of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, carve the
turkey before Thanksgiving dinner for Marines and Sailors aboard Iwo Jima. The 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit and
the Iwo Jima Expeditionary Strike Group are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. U.S. Marine Corps

Private Michael Lindsay says good-bye to his daughter Mikayla at the Kelly Hill Recreation Center, Fort Benning,
Georgia, before flying to Kuwait on January 20, 1998. Lindsay is one of approximately 1,500 U.S. Army soldiers
participating with members of the Kuwaiti armed forces in Exercise Intrinsic Action 98-1. The exercise is intended to
strengthen military-to-military relationships, improve readiness and interoperability between U.S. and Kuwaiti armed

Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (January 9, 2006) - James Ward, President of "The Chosin Few Inc." waves to sailors returning
home on board the USS Chosin. Family and friends welcome back the more than 390 Sailors of the Pearl
Harbor-based guided missile cruiser, USS Chosin (CG 65). Chosin, commanded by Captain Doug Venlet, departed Pearl
Harbor in July as a part of the USS Tarawa (LHA 1) Expeditionary Strike Group. During deployment, the Sailors from
Chosin and Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light Squadron 37 Detachment Four supported Operation Iraqi Freedom,
Operation Enduring Freedom, and the global war on terrorism. Chosin conducted a full range of activities ranging from
assisting mariners in distress, to combating piracy, to visit, board, search and seizure operations. Official U.S. Navy
