She broke up with him 7 months ago - he came in and shot her at Taco Johns and then something was said about her kids but didn't understand what that was about.. or how kids were involved.

yeah I know it was, but still since when do you hear of *shooting* at the PX??!!??
Military bases *use* to feel safe, now they are constantly in the news for shooting, kids od'ing, murder.....it's crazy!
This happened here in Washington, that's what it has to do with this web site. I use to live there, so it disconcerting that something like this could happen. It's a military base, and it use to be these things didn't happen on military bases......
interpose: pw72 does have a point as we want to keep discussions in the local state and city forums germane to relocation issues or questions and inquires pertaining to that local geographic area for visitors and those making inquires as new residents of that area if possible. A few news items in the local forum are ok but I believe your concern pertains more to the safety of military bases rather than helping others decide whether a particular geographical area is suited to them. Thanks.

They are still safe, overall installations are safer than the cities and communities surrounding the base. These are isolated incidents that happen everywhere. There has been more bloodshed on college campuses than military installations in recent years.

It seems that there are increasing incidents of violence that is cropping up on the military bases, than there ever was in the past.
My husband was an MP on Ft Lewis, and the violence has increased exponentially on that base from the time when we arrived and continuing after we left.....
I'm a military brat and married military and lived on bases more than half my life...things have changed ...a lot....
I have not seen any reliable, verifiable data on increased violence, increasing incidents of violence on US Military installations....
