I'm 39, turn 40 in about 3 months. Would love to enlist into the Navy active duty now that the age limit has increased. I know I have to ship out before my birthday as part of my age qualification. Do I have time?

I've thought about seriously enlisting in the past, but I wanted Active Duty not the Navy Reserve.

TIA

If you're qualified without needing waivers and you're willing to ship with any available job you probably have a shot. If you have enlistment issues and are picky about a job you don't have a shot.

Go talk to a recruiter and get started tomorrow if you want to do this.

I’ll list my preferences but yeah I’ll do anything I need to do. Left a msg for recruitment, I’m gonna head over there and see if I can catch someone. I don’t believe I need any waivers, no medical hx, no criminal hx, no weird tats, no collections/bankruptcy, wife and 2 kids which I believe is the dependent limit w/o waiver.

I was raised by an old Sailor this would be a dream come true.

I’ll make the height/weight limit. I’ve done cardio/weights for years now I can definitely make the fitness standards.

Your biggest problem is going to be your health, at age 39. Good luck. Go talk to the recruiter today!

PS I think the Air Force also has the limit set to 39.
