My Husband (1SG) knows of a Soldier looking to get out of his FIRST Deployment by claiming that HE had PTSD. How could he claim that he had PTSD when he had never been Deployed? Easy- he said that his roommate had nightmares from his Deployment therefore the Soldier who had never set foot off of American soil said he could not be Deployed because of his second hand PTSD.

My Husband sent the malingerer to the Doctor who returned him to full duty stating that the guy may be a cowardly and he had a terrific imagination but he couldn't "catch" his roommate's nightmares and claim PTSD.

People never fail to amaze me.

Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD is not just for those who have deployed. It's a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event that results in psychological trauma. It's not just for the military, but they certainly are put under stress. Children have been diagnosed with PTSD.

Read "stolen Valor"........although it is 10 years or so since released,It gives a good explanation of how PTSD is being milked.also why it is so easy to get compensation for it.

I't not easy to get compensation for, the psyc evaluation period takes a good 6 months and depending on the severity you are awarded anything from 0-100%.

If you are only filing for PTSD it could be between 2-6 months. If you have multiple disabilities on your claim it could be over a year. Also keep in mind that if you are found to have severe PTSD you can also file for IU, once you get your determination.

Default C&p results

Got my C&P results back. Very frustrating, I wanted to chicken choke someone. The examiner was like a robot. Just aked questions from the computer and typed in answers. I felt like I was an imposition on his time. Bottom line was that he service connected and confirmed my PTSD due to combat experiences in Vietnam. All my symptoms were listed and how they affect my current life. However coma, under the Occ/Social Imparement, he indicated the last one (no imparement at all). I talked to my Therapist and Psych at my next appointments and was basically told that they knew this examiner and that "he always does that" What kind of crap is that ? I have not got my rating results back yet, but with the writing on the wall I guess I get ready to file a NOD ?

IU = Individual unemployability

Meaning that even if you are not rated 100% disabled you can be paid at the 100% rate if found unemployable.
