Is it just me or does anyone else feel disgusted by all things military? To me it just seems so out of time and place.

In this forum maybe
In my opinion the mere existence of country A's military is a potential aggression against other countries.

Of course; we should just dismantle the greatest military force on the planet and let everyone just come in and take what they want from the U.S. and our Allies...

I am not talking about any specific military.
In your statement I detect some of the main reasons why we still have those primitive institutions in the first place.
a) 'our' military is or has to be the greatest, greater than the others
b) us vs them based on patriotism and distrust filled into our heads from childhood on
c) others want to harm us, paranoia

paranoia---------no

common sense----yes

In Minnesota, we had a strong peace advocate. She happened to be the wife of Minneapolis Police Chief Tony Bouza.

Tony was interviewed and asked if he shared his wife's view on war and the military.
He didn't.

He stated that phrase---" turn your weapons into plow shares"-----sounds good, but the ones who do that will be forced to plow the ground of those who did not.

Certainly, I agree with that. That is what I meant earlier, the existence of any military means a potential aggression to people who don't have one. So as long as there is one military, others feel compelled to have one of their own in order to protect themselves, at least initially. It is a vicious circle.

In case you haven't noticed this is a pro-military blog.

Do us all a favor and take your anti-military sentiments elsewhere.

I respect your opinion but do not wish to read it here.
