I think we are already seeing hardships being put on employers due to the reserves and guards being deployed so often.
It will backfire in the future ( I believe it already has)
An employer will be reluctant to hire people in the reserves/guard knowing they can be called up to be absent for 14 months many times.
We do not have a draft anymore and I believe employers are seeing the consequences of hiring guards/reservists then losing their services for 14 months over and over.
Hard to run a business employing reservists/guard today.
Employers have my sympathy.
True but it's hard to defend a nation without shared sacrifice.
My company wants to see my paperwork for me shipping off but my recruiter says they dont need to see it. I dont know what to do. I gave my company 6 months notice and they are telling me I will loose my job if I dont show them proof of my leaving, which is against the law.
Yes, if they are holding a job for you then they have the right to see your orders.
Yes, and you should do this. Though most do, there is a chance that you will not make it through boot camp. It could be through no fault of your own. I just had a kid, strong as an ox, get sent home from boot camp b/c they found he was allergic to every stinging insect except a common honey bee. (one of the tests/shots they do during receiving week) He had no idea he had the allergy. If you provide proof enlistemtn, you can get your job upon return. Heck I have one guy who worked at the turkey plant out here, he gave his employer a letter and they said if he gets out 4 years from now he'll still have a job b/c of it.
Next time you are at workk look for the mployee info board. Every job is required to have one. It's the thing that posts worker rights like minimum wage and workers comp. That same board should have info on military employee rights as well. As a junior marine I had a 2nd job as a pizza delivery guy, if I was late due to the military or had to call out or leave b/c of it they could not do anything about it. they understood so it was never a problem anyway.
