I don't know if this is the correct place to post this if not please direct me else where. I've been all over the net so this is my last stop.

(I'm looking for input from soldier's and spouses only please)

My husband is in the Army and is going to re enlist for a change of duty station. We're currently in Savannah,GA. I love it. He hates it. He's thinking of Fort Rucker, AL. There is very limited Information online for the area.
If anyone has been there or is there I'd appreciate some help with the following questions.

What's the post like in general?
Area crime rates?
Areas to stay away from.
Schools?
FRG'S?
Rental rates? or is on Post housing worth anything? (hubby is E5)
Why is there not any apartment websites on line for the areas?

A little background info: We've been to Fort Hood and Hunter Army Air field so I'm used to large and small posts. We have a child who will be about 1 1/2 years old when we move. Any information is appreciated.

Thanks!

There are apartment websites on line for the areas, but not on this site. No real estate advertising is allowed.

You might check the Fort Rucker Web Site, there is some information regarding housing.

I was at Rucker years ago. But my knowledge of the area probably would not help you. Here are some threads which might help:

I've only been here a few months so by no means am I an expert on any of your questions.

The post in general (as I'm sure you've found out online) is pretty small and straightforward. Post housing is pretty decent. I know some folks who live off post (Enterprise) in some nice developments that appear to be mostly military (if not all). We also had some trouble finding out specifics about the area online before we got here. Direct message me if you want some more info.

I've only been here for about a month. The people here are sweet and the post is nice. I will say (from what I have seen so far in a short period of time) and have heard from other spouses is that there is not a lot to do here...As far as safety, it seems very safe to me. I haven't felt uncomfortable and have heard only good things with regard to safety...Good luck!

PS:&nbsp;&nbsp; We used RBI (a real estate company) to find our furnished apartment!! It's in a community with town houses in Enterprise...We are pleased so far!<br>

I was stationed there twice (1973-1975 and 1985-1986). I loved Ft Rucker, my oldest daughter was bron there..Course Daleville ain't very big, but Enterprise and Ozark was okay..Dothan's not too far away..neither is Panama City Florida.

The people there were friendly, and housing was reasonable.

Hope y'all have a good time there.

I'm sorry I haven't replied any sooner. I've had internet connect problems. But...

He has decided to re enlist for Fort Rucker but not until late 2011. So I guess I really need all the information I can get.

Thanks for all the replies!
