Hello everyone,
My husband has just received orders for Fort Hood so we will be moving there in mid-september 2010.

I'm trying to get information about:
* apartments
* what there is to do in the area
* the cost of living
* Anything pertinent to someone moving to the area

Also, I'm graduating with my bachelors in three weeks and was wondering about the
continuing education options (?) available out there (nursing and teaching programs preferred).

If anyone has any info on any of the above we'd love your feedback because we know absolutely nothing about the area!

Hi Belle! I'm not at Fort Hood (somehow escaped that assignment during my husband's Army career!), but at Fort Lee in Virginia. You may want to check the actual Texas Forum to see which sub-forum is closest to Fort Hood and post there. Also look on Facebook. I volunteer with the Spouses' Club here and we have set up a FB group page for the club, both to get info out to our current members and any folks PCSing in to the installation. Just a thought...

Good luck with your move and thanks so much for your family's service!

In the Texas forum there is a Dallas and Austin sub forum. Ft Hood is between (3 hrs and 2 hrs).

I spent some time at Ft Hood, the last time was 1984... So I don't even know was Kileen is like now.
