So disappointed in NPR / PBS for NOT giving D-Day even a few minutes, yet several of the programs they did were 'fluff' (not of immediate relevancy). 'filler' material)
so... I did a bunch of reading / research on D-Day and learned a lot! We had visited Normandy in 1993, and it left a significant impression on ourselves and our teenage boys. Many of the docents were veterans, and they spent hours with our kids. The stories and appreciation were meaningful.
Definately take a trip to Normandy if you ever get a chance.
There’s something like less than one percent of WWII veterans alive today. History fades away. And also this month the Battle of Midway was fought in the Pacific in 1942. A battle that turned the tide of war against the Japanese. Didn’t hear about that one either in the media.

They have been excavating and preserving some of the US sites in the UK, including the site in Wiltshire in England, where Easy Company of the 101st Airborne were billeted on what is now a sports pitch.
Shameful . we seem to have lost our pride and honor .
If you thought it was bad in 2010, you're going to be floored with the crap in 2022....
