Well I graduated from MATC last year so maybe I can help.

The school is OK and not much beyond that. Most of the teachers are pretty good, you'll get the occasional one you can't stand and the ones who do weird things like give you an A on an exam you never took because they aren't organized enough to keep track of everything.

There are many types of students. You'll see some people there that are in their 40's, but mostly people of college age. A good mixture of different races too.

I always felt safe in the area. Sometimes you might see a few bums outside trying to bum cigarettes or "bus fare". I think most people feel safe there. At night you can have someone escort you to your car if you don't want to be in the parking garage alone.

If you go to downtown, you'd probably want to live on the east side. Its only about 10 minutes away from the campus.

would you recommend going to the school?
I'm currently a student and would most certainly recommend it.

how are the teachers? do they care about their jobs?
IMHO, my professors at MATC are better and more passionate about their jobs than my professors at CU-Denver were. Based upon my own observations, they also tend to be more educated. Most of my professors at CU-Denver were adjunct faculty and grad students, whereas every single professor I've had so far at MATC possesses a PhD in their chosen academic field.

what are the students like?
By far the most ethnically and culturally diverse student body in the state of WI. Very wide range of ages and incomes too.

hows the area around the school like the neighborhood, is it safe?
The area is safe, for the most part, but not really residential. There are some really nice income-restricted lofts located a couple of blocks away on MLK, but otherwise, I'd recommend looking for places near the East Side, Brewer's Hill, and Riverwest.

any places to work around matc or houses?
Yes, lots. There's restaurants, retail stores, hotels, banks, gov't jobs, office jobs, etc.

ive heard that schools in milwaukee arent very good is this one of them?
Public K-12 schools aren't very good, but I've never heard anything negative about Milwaukee's higher educational offerings.

if you live on the eastside how long does it take to get to matc?

It takes about 15 minutes on the bus, depending on what part of the ES you live on.
