Hello! My hubby and I are considering a move to Milwaukee. DH will be working for HD motor company and I will be working for a non-profit organization. We are looking to rent fairly close to downtown (i.e. no longer than a 15 minute commute). We'd like to live in a safe, dog-friendly part of town (i.e. lots of places to walk the dogs) close to restaurants and shopping. Schools aren't really an issue. We don't have children yet and aren't considering starting a family for a few years. We're looking to rent at least a two bedroom condo/apt/house for no more than $1,500/mo. Anyone have any suggestions on parts of town for us to consider and if this is a realistic rental price point? Thanks for your help.

What H-D plant would your Husband be working at.
The Juneau Plant?
That would make a huge difference commute wise.

The new Marquette interchange is nice, but leaving Downtown heading west at rush hour is still a mess.

Your budget should leave you fairly open to anywhere besides right along the Lake on the north side.

I would recommend Bay View, Oak Creek, Tosa or Milwaukee's East Side
