THE ROADS IN WISCONSIN SUCK!!!!!!!! Don't tell me the $20 fee coming from over 600,000+ people is fixing our damn roads!! Yes, there is major construction out there right now, but it's all freakin hwy, alot of it re-doing from 2 years ago (Example - Marquette interchange). There isn't anything being done about our local roads!! The City's idea of fixing potholes is to throw some asphalt down, smack it with a shovel a couple of times and let our cars do the rest as opposed to having a steam roller run over it. So guess what? They are going to be doing the same damn holes next year! And our cars have asphalt stuck to the paint! I'm so sick of being charged for **** I get nothing out of. I can't afford it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vehicle registration, though? Gotta pay it all the time. Renewing online or at the local grocery store is the best option.
Yep, just got my renewal notice in the mail and it is $62 for vehicle registration. Vehicle inspection annual fee is set by law at $14.50. (At least that was the fee when we took in my dad's car in January.) Some Texas counties may have an additional county fee on top of the $62 registration fee.

The early months are more desirable because they are the only ones with a new sticker. If it's Feb 2012, only Jan, Feb, & maybe some early March plates have 2013 stickers... everyone else still has 'old' stickers because their registration hasn't expired yet.

Personally, I have a clear plastic license plate cover. It won't stop someone from touching my sticker... just make it more difficult. A thief will just move on to the next car. It's like the idea with locks on your doors... it stops the lazy thief/burglar but won't absolutely stop someone from getting in.
In Texas, the sticker is no longer put on the back license plate. We put the sticker on the windshield inside on the driver's side. That is also where the inspection sticker goes. People were stealing the stickers from other cars license plates, so they changed it several years ago to the windshield.

I just did a "Research" on Milwaukee, WI. Driver License plate renewal and printed out the information. The actual license plate renewal is supposed to be; $75. Now I just found out that Milwaukee is charging an extra $20 for a "WHEEL TAX" which means its for fixing pot holes in our roads.
Now if you live in the City of Milwaukee, you know that we have the worst roads from Pot Holes, cracks, bumps, lumps and its taking its toll on our cars!!
I also found out that if we have an issue, we are to contact our "Legislature." If anyone's interested in delving into this issue, contact me or your Legislature to complain. The more noise we make, the more they will hear us and do something about the potholes

I was just informed that if we have an issue with the "Wheel Tax," to contact our Legislature. This "Wheel Tax" supposedly is for fixing all the pot holes in the roads but as you are well aware of, they've done nothing to fix this problem. I'm going to investigate this further.....

I forgot that Wisconsin doesn't do that. I paid about $100 in excise tax on my car. My mother pays like $300.

Does Wisconsin have emissions checks yet?

Try NH If you buy a new car you will get a (wheel tax) of about $450 and you pay for the license about $45. Each year for about 5 years the tax goes down but never goes away. I paid $85 + $45 for a car that is 9 years old.

It's fascinating to me that some folks believe roads are really cheap to fix. They're not. Basically everyone who owns a car uses the roads in their area, so every vehicle owner should bare some responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep.

Registration in Nevada is based on the value of your car.
I drive a 2012 Ford Focus... registration this year was $330.

Anything car related in Wisconsin is very cheap... gas, insurance, registration, the sales tax to purchase a vehicle...

They make up for it with the property/income tax.
