Does Milwaukee still have small downtown (or near downtown) studio condos
offered for sale? I lived there several years ago and I know I saw several
that seemed to be occupied by younger professionals and older retired
single people. I think some were up in the Shorewood area and some
others were near the music conservatory area and the rest were closer
to downtown. I've seen some on realtor.com and some are pretty resonable
but the property taxes seem very high. Some of the ones I saw could
have been nicely kept up older apartments and not condos.

thanks for any info.

Check out the Astor Hotel... I remember seeing studios available there starting around 70k. Property taxes will "kill" you anywhere in MKE county.

Anyone have any idea of the price ranges for a small condo downtown? I'd be looking for a good (safe) area, patio, view, garage, 1-2 BR, fireplace would be cool (haven't seen too many advertised w/fp - probably because of fire issues in multi-unit buildings?)

there a a few new apt. to condo conversions downtown with what you are looking for.$190 to $350. Keep in mind that indoor parking adds about $25,000 to the base price and not all will even have parking available.
