Hi everyone,
My husband and I are making our move to Milwaukee! We’re in town to look at apartments for a week starting this Sunday--in the city and in Shorewood. Does anyone have a favorite restaurant they could recommend? We’ll be eating a lot of meals out-lunch and dinner, and probably a breakfast here and there. We’re fans of pretty much anything-from the exotic to a good burger. If anything comes to mind that would be good to get the local vibe and have some tasty food-please let us know—thank you!

Breakfast= PANCAKE HOUSE on downer ave
-The best pancakes and very close to shorewood

LUNCH=OAKLAND GYROS on the corner of Oakland ave and Locust st.
- Hands down my favorite place to eat. I've never had a gyro anywhere else in the COUNTRY that compared. Great food at a reasonable price. Also very close to shorewood.

Dinner= ALE HOUSE on water st.
-Really good burgers and things of that nature. They brew their own beer and have live music on the weekends. Great place to hang out with friends. Not a rowdy place at all.

Cubanitas. We stop there nearly every time we come back to Milwaukee. It's on Milwaukee Ave, near the Pfister.

Meritage in Wauwatosa. Right at the Mke/Tosa border, so it's not a hike. Small, personal, seasonal, creative but not flashy, and very reasonably priced. It's our go-to for nights out.

I'll second Oakland Gyros. There's also one on Layton near the airport.
I've yet to have bad local pizza in Milwaukee. I'm sure I'll find some eventually. Klasiana's in Greendale is my current fave.
China Hut and Azteca in South Milwaukee.
Swayz, a Mexican place in St. Francis.
