I just accepted a job in Milwaukee and have to move by 5/1/12. I know its short notice but would like to live near the bar scene. Looking for a one bedroom apartment preferably in the price range $500-$1000 per month. Thanks in advance for your help.

lower east side... enough said, or if you can swing the 3rd ward, that area is pricey.

Ditto what's already been said. The Eastside is great. The main bar areas are North Ave, Brady St and downtown. I lived on the Eastside for 7 years and loved it.

For the rent, you'll get the most bang for your buck North of downtown. I'd say anywhere between Brady and North Ave would be ideal.

The 3rd Ward is very nice and does have it's own bar scene, but it is pricey as hell (I pay $1200 for a 1 br, parking & utilities not included).
