OK, so please don't take offense to the question, but I'm just curious: do Milwaukee locals frequent the Safe House? Is it mostly tourists? Is it a "special occasion" place? Is it just where locals take friends/family that are in from out-of-town?

From Chicago and love the Safe House (and the whole City for that matter), but was curious. Would appreciate your feedback, thanks!

Why would anyone take offense to that?

I've never been there actually. Just never got around to it.

Usually I only take people who are from out of town, but I wouldn't mind going there for some sort of birthday party or something.

It's basically a tourist thing. I've never been, never had the urge to go.

The Safe House is fun because of the atmosphere, but the food is really mediocre, it's best to stick to the drinks and foolproof appetizers.

I love taking people to the following spots

Foundation (tiki bar in Riverwest)
Wolf Peach (really amazing food, especially for brunch)
At Random (old school supper club style bar in Bayview, seriously nothing else is like it)
Von Trier (A bar that appeals to basically anyone)
Wolski's
Bryant's
Barnacle Buds
Balzac
Rumpus Room
Hi-Hat Lounge
Cafe Corazon
Leon's
Cafe Benelux (the best of the Lowland)
La Merenda
Le Reve
Blue's Egg
Cranky Al’s (donuts before noon, pizza after)
Benji's
The Public Market

I agree about Foundation & Barnacle Buds, however the food at Bud's is totally god awful. They get by on their reputation for their location.

Hey thanks everybody. Was just in Milwaukee this past weekend but didn't make it out to Safe House. Seems to me like the answer is "kinda". Either way, I think it's a fun place, but too many other great places in town for just one weekend. Thanks Cream City for another great trip!
