Hi,
My husband got a job in Menomonee Falls. We have moved a lot, including places all over the world, and this time I want to use what I know about how we work as a family to find us the best fit. We have two adult children that don't live with us but do come to visit and an eighth grader who enjoys having the freedom to walk places rather than be driven everywhere and needs a good high school...preferably with a robotics team or something similar as he is very mechanically inclined. We are moving from a 3300 square foot home we had built three years ago for $300k so we are a bit spoiled as far as housing goes but it looks like we can't touch something similar for under 450K and still have a good school district. (I don't like the idea of spending a half a million dollars on a house so would prefer to stay under 400K and even spending that much annoys me...can't believe how expensive housing is in the Milwaukee area!) Also, we don't like to be in a rural area or something too suburban. A quaint downtown area would be nice. Lastly, no more than a 30 minute commute to both Menomonee Falls and Downtown Milwaukee.

Also, are there any summer swim and tennis clubs? We used to belong to one that was in our neighborhood in Michigan and it was a great community builder. We would love to join another in WI.

Thanks for the help!

Wauwatosa is going to meet a lot of your needs. Its about 20 minutes to Menomonee Falls and a little closer to Downtown Milwaukee. The village/town center is probably the nicest and most walkable suburban center in the Milwaukee area. Its mostly very safe, centrally located and the schools are very good. Tosa has almost 50,000 residents so should be able to meet your eight grader's needs.

You won't get a new 3000 sq ft house for under $400k, but there are some beautiful older homes near the village in the $300-$400k range.

I agree with Wauwatosa. Another possibility to look into is Cedarburg.
