As far as the ridiculous second comment goes - disagree. Asking reasonable questions that challenge the status quo of the great ivory tower known as the UW system is not akin to killing off intellectuals.
Thanks to the mission of public service enshrined in the decades-old Wisconsin Idea, a principle that Walker and his cronies inexplicably tried to eliminate, the UW System is not quite a classic ivory tower.

It isn't "noticeably" warmer. The same clothes are worn. The climate has the same effects for how one lives their lives.

It has zero effect on migration from Wisconsin to Boston, or even Chicago. Which is entire F'ing damn point. It is about jobs jobs jobs and jobs.

Then you know the climate is effectively the same. People bundle up the same. The are active outside, or not active outside the same. Do people dress differently in 20 degree weather than they do 10 degree weather? No. Do people that live in 10 degree weather relocate to 20 degree weather to live a milder climate? No.

Which was the point. People migrate to places for jobs. It's all about jobs. Not climate.

Tuition doesn't cover all costs in the private universities I've worked at either. Not even close. Not even half in the Ivy I worked at.

So I'm prone to believe him and not you, the guy with a weird chip on his shoulder and a clear agenda.

Thank you. Reading comprehension isn't the strong suit of some on here.

Moderator cut: personal remarks People dress the same in 20 degree weather and 10 degree weather, but being bundled up in the former feels much more comfortable than being bundled up in the latter (where you're still shivering and hate your life the second you step outside). That is definitely noticeable. Obviously it is not going to make me start playing tennis outside, but I'm more likely to walk an extra 10 minutes to get somewhere.

And, I NEVER SAID people would choose Boston over Milwaukee because of climate.

This topic is about the state of education in Wisconsin and possible "brain drain", not climate or comparing Boston to Milwaukee. Let's stay on topic.

Thank you! I was getting sick of the weather talk.

Right, and brain drain its relationship to weather was brought up. It needed to be addressed, and properly discounted. Hopefully that has been taken care of now.

*UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT*

I actually respect his response a lot.

"That's a question a politician shouldn't be involved in one way or the other. So I'm going to leave that up to you."

That is indeed a question that a politician needn't answer.

A) Inappropriate to answer while on an economic development trade mission.

B) Gotcha' question posed by a famously 'nasty' British media. Smart, politically, for Walker to step around the snare.

C) No win situation. Had he answered, the response would have been pounced upon.

The anti-Walkerites are being disengenious at the least.
