Does anyone know why I-43 north of Milwaukee in Ozaukee County is in such terrible shape? It's like driving on a washboard! Has been that way for some years-not just this winter. Drove it again today and as soon as you enter Sheboygan Co. and then Manitowoc Co. the road is fine. What's up with that?

They just resurfaced and laid new asphalt from Silver Spring to Grafton. North of Grafton to Sheboygan Co. border was diamond ground 15 years ago.

The next plan is to expand 43 from Silver Spring to Grafton to 6 lanes starting in 2018.

North of Grafton maybe be diamond ground and overlaid with asphalt before or after the expansion.

The road is like a washboard because concrete pavement is not doweled.

Doesn't seem that bad to me. Unless you're driving a Yugo or something. I drive it all the time.

Weren't you on here complaining about it last year or the year before?

Kind of, considering the same people will come on here and spout nonsense, get banned, and pop up again with a different screen name and an identical spiel. Happens all the time, and I'm quite skeptical that you (the person behind the computer) has never started this conversation before.

WOW. This response sure does define the type of person you truly are. Alle, it's okay to ask a question as many times as you like. This is a Forum.

Yes, that section of road sure is rough regardless of what type of vehicle you drive. If I'm not in a hurry, I'll usually get off the interstate and take Sauk Trail Road instead.

I drove it twice this weekend, and it isn't that bad.

The kind of person TRlaura is: someone who hides behind a screen and insults someone she doesn't know. PATHETIC.

The road is pretty bad... maybe not swallowing motorcycles and small cars bad... but it's bad. I think us Wisconsinites are just conditioned to put up with crappy roads that get no maintenance. The WI budget is very good at widening lanes but terrible at maintaining what we have.

So yeah, expect the road to be terrible until probably 2020... we have no guarantees that the roadwork won't get pushed back... just like the rebuild of I-94 south just got pushed back.

Wisconsin roads are generally rated average for the country. I've never seen a list where it shows up in the top 10 worst roads, though there may be one exception out of dozens. Usually 20-30 range.

People need to get out of the state and drive on other roads....
