I currently live in Orland Park,Illinois, it is about ½ hour southwest of Chicago, Illinois. Theyare both in Cook County.

I have an interview coming up inFranksville (unincorporated) / Racine Wisconsin. What is the Racinearea like? Can a single person live on $30,000 in Racine area? Ifthis question is in other forums please let me know. Thank you.

Racine is a factory town with no factories left.

To an extent it has soldiered on, but suffers from issues similar to other small cities its size in the Rust Belt. It does benefit from its location between 2 major metropolitan areas with higher paying jobs. The cost of living is lower than some other places. It has nicer areas and very dumpy areas.

Could you live on $30k? I guarantee you that there are a lot of people in that area that make less, and plenty collecting government aid of some type. Whether it will be good for you, only you can decide. I suggest looking around a lot before you make a commitment to move there. You might find that it's worth quality of life to live a little farther in one direction or the other, and not in Racine proper.

All just IMO.
