I plan on attending UW Milwaukee for graduate school in the Fall of 2018, specifically in the Master of Social Work program.

Could anybody tell me their thoughts on UW Milwaukee? If possible, any information the Master of Social Work program?

Thanks in advance!

I went to UW-Milwaukee Lubar School of Business, and my wife was in social work there in MKE until about a year ago.

My only advice is to assure that the school you chose has the specific certificates or accreditation for the field of social work that you desire. As atrocious as social work pays, any employer worth their weight will still require specific schooling + certificates. Some are whiling to pay for certifications, most will not. The school's name really doesn't hold weight, it's all about the specific field you're certified within.

I'm sure I'm not the first one to tell you social work is not a great field to be in. If you want me to elaborate by sharing my wife's experiences, I'd be happy to do so. She was rather high up in her organization before switching industries and instantly tripling her salary.

adr3naline, thank you for responding so promptly. Your advice is highly appreciated. I will be emphasize in their MSW mental/behavioral health program so I can become a clinical social worker/therapist. LOL, you're definitely not the first to inform me about the social work profession doesn't pay very well.

If you don't mind my asking, what did your wife change her profession to?

Good to hear you've honed in on a specific discipline. Many in the feild do not, so they inevitably get stuck in the in-home care vortex, which sucks the life out of you.

My wife's career switch was rather herculean as just ~25% of her education carried over. She's now a UX Designer at a startup here in Los Angeles, leveraging her psychology background to analyze user behavior while designing e-Commerce sites.
