Waukesha--What's it like? (Milwaukee, Madison, Oregon: low income, condos, house)

Meh - there are always improvements that can be made by anyone. It is called the human experience and life. I can be better too. I am sure OP and you can be better in some regards too. Perhaps upon reflection, some of these experiences are WAY overblown. Is that not possible in at least some instances?

I maintain that within the grand scheme of life; the idea of "non-diversity" is a small topic that always gets overblown by those who want to get on with an agenda.


I do appreciate your comments although I don't have a "side." I call out silliness when I see it - white or black, left or right.

It's pretty small to me too, but I'm a white straight male and having that background, understandably, diminishes its importance. I actually have to think about it, while if I was a POC it would be staring me in the face every day.

Milwaukee is the most segregated city in the country. The Buck stops there. Configuration of race relations begins there and spills out to the surrounding counties.

Last time I checked Waukesha had a pretty good Mexican population going. Don't think anyone is stopping anyone from moving into Waukesha.

Brookfield gives the County a bad reputation, the rest of the area is just fine.

If liberals are so accepting and tolerant of minorities, then why are blacks and Hispanics doing so badly in liberal places like Madison and Minneapolis? Last time I visited Madison, blacks and Latinos were confined to small pockets of the south and the north side in apartment complexes. it's funny how minorities fare better in "racist" republican states like Texas and Louisiana. Liberals only care about minorities every four years and nobody is preventing minorities from moving to the WOW counties. 75% of Black children live in poverty in Madison. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the worst in the entire US. Almost twice as high as Milwaukee.

Bachelorette is correct concerning Blacks moving to and prospering in Red States such as Texas, Georgia and North Carolina. They are fleeing Illinois, NYC, California in large numbers.

A few days back the Journal/Sentinel ran a story with results from a University of Wisconsin survey on how well minority students feel accepted at Wisconsin. The results showed many blacks students don't feel entirely welcomed or fit in.

Maybe Madison needs to stop being preachy and self righteous when it comes to race.

Societal institutionalized racism and decades or centuries of it.


And poor people get by better is cheap, poor, states. Shocking. But where is your data that they "fare better"? Define, "faring better"?


And you know "plenty of blacks", that's half a step a way from saying "I have a black friend so I can't be racist" card.

If you don't realize that blacks are moving to Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and North Carolina, then your living in a cave. If you want I can go through all the trouble and find plenty of links that explain the large growth of blacks in these states and areas, but do I really have to bother, I think you know this.

Again, how many more articles do we need concerning blacks leaving, NYC, Chicago, LA and San Fran. Do I have to find these to?

People move to where they believe they have the best chance of having a decent life. If you call this cheap then so be it.
