Yep, just more of the senseless violence we've come to expect from our more "diverse" neighborhoods (like this one at 60th and Silver Spring).
I'm just glad the attacker wasn't a white guy. The local media and community activists would be obssessing over and crying about "racism" for days. There would be demonstrations, scathing editorials (by Eugene Kane and others), handwringing by the TV newspeople, etc.
But in this case, it is just the normal minority-on-minority violence, so it will receive minimal coverage and be swept under the rug very quickly.

I've only know that area to be one way. Has something changed in the last 2 years?

The first question to come to my mind is, why was the bus driver actually trying to drive the bus while he was being pummeled? It seems it would have made more sense to stop the bus and somehow deal with the assailant, or radio in a distress call....??

I was wondering that myself....& what about the other passengers, was there anyone else on that bus? I think maybe the driver was in shock

In the video, a man boarded the bus right before the assailant did, so I presume at least one passenger was present. It seems that the assailant made a bee-line right for the driver; it wouldn't surprise me if the two knew each other, and the assailant was lying in wait.

Frankly? I see this as a part of a gang initiation. He stole nothing, didn't seem to have a weapon. Just fulfilling one of a list of violent things to join his brothers in crime.

This area of the city is rapidly declining. Not too long ago, the area around 60th and Silver Spring was decent, and the neighborhoods in the area were nice. I am sure the majority of the problem stems from the Woodlawn projects. Not only that, MPD District 4 is huge, geographically speaking, so MPD is likely spread a little thin up there.

It kind of makes sense to get away from an area where the guys friends would be. Getting pounded by one guy isn't as bad as being pounded by several.
