"Milwaukee reported a record 10,179 cars stolen in 2021, more than half were Kias and Hyundais. "

"One mother who told me her 14-year-old son steals cars and was a member of the “Kia Boyz,” a group of young car thieves in the city who target both Kias and Hyundais, said her son was arrested three times for stealing cars, but the police simply turn him over to her within an hour of his arrest."

Perhaps by locking the young thugs up, the problem may dissipate...

I saw a tv news story where people tried to pin blame on those auto manufacturers because they weren’t secure enough. That’s just nonsense.

I believe it is due to those models being able to be driven away without a key fob.

Yup, had a friend who flushed her Kia keys down the toilet. Unplugged the ignition switch, and figured out how to hot wire it in a couple minutes. Not even a steering wheel lock…

And yet it's true. They are blately easy to steal. All thieves are morons, so they only steal cars that have no security. They are very lazy morons.
These brands, in fact, represent two out of every three vehicles stolen during the first half of 2021 in Milwaukee. So, the owner of a local repair shop told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, “thieves know they can break the back window without setting off an alarm, unlock the door, quickly peel back the steering column, and either use a screwdriver or a USB port to crank the car and go.”

I visited in Feb and last weekend and had my Kia Soul stolen (and found by the police roughed up) both times (the 2nd time I had at a hotel near the suburb border). I honestly will never come back and I can only sleep at night knowing these hoodrats will be killed or in prison one day

Useless!
True, Hyundai created part of the problem. But the citizens of Milwaukee voted for the rest of it, over and over and over again.

there are no consequences to breaking into cars, why not do it?
