trooper40below, good day.

"Better" in regards to WHAT, exactly? What is to be compared??

I hate to be the one to throw in the negative monkey wrench, but as someone working in the legal system, I can tell you the crimes are increasing in BOTH areas. They are mostly thefts, and some drug issues.

But as someone who grew up in these areas in the 1980s and 1990s, these areas were the "escape from crime" areas, essentially.

I should've been more specific. Well they don't want to be around a lot of crime for one. They do prefer a more quiet setting as well. I live in Mequon and they can't really afford to be in Mequon especially at this point in their lives. So something similar to Mequon would be ideal.

trooper40below, PLEASE do NOT let me detract you from these areas!

I am just pointing out that from personal and professional experiences, these areas have been developing a reputation of thefts/crimes that I NEVER heard of in the past.

If you can find housing away further from where the stores and foot(CAR) traffic are, I suspect it would be more and more ideal!

Any place in Ozaukee/Washington county should do. The further out from "the city" the better

brrabbit, when I see crimes taking place in my old north side neighborhood that I had newer heard about when I lived there, it makes me nostalgic AND very sad!

When I was a little kid, there were literally Germany-born people in the neighborhood. Yes: times change, people change, demographics change, etc.

But sadly, being a clean and safe neighborhood did NOT stay constant. ;(

The German Immersion school is still working there and probably one of the best in Milwaukee.

Ja, Herr Rabbit!

I think our Spanish Immersion school is doing well, also. We had a French Immersion school. I do not know if it still is in existence?

Anyways, I lived in Milwaukee until the early '90s, and lived in Washington County for several years. I moved back again into my old house in Milwaukee for several years. And the neighborhood had changed... Imagine it TODAY!!!!

Since then I have lived in 2 southside Milwaukee suburbs, and even some of THOSE are changing, and NOT for the better!!!

So, unfortunately, your analysis of moving further and further away from the city is NOT necessarily bad news.

I, however, can still tolerate it... But I am not elderly, like the OP's family situation calls for...
