I'm not sure what this even means...

"It is a preventative measure. If the state passes a law that criminalizes receiving gender affirming care, this resolution calls for the sheriff's office to make enforcing it their lowest priority. "

"Get out of jail free" card for transgenders, providing they actually transitioning and not merely cross-dressers. If I understood the news correctly.

Edit: nope, I read it wrong. It's only to stop enforcing penalties for any gender transitions services would our conservative state decide to impose on doctors or organizations.

I support the measure itself, but I don't know if it is legal for a city to nullify state laws.

It’s either shameless pandering or misguided solutions to a problem that doesn’t even exist.

If it does come up, consider that we don’t let kids smoke, drink, drive cars, work in sweatshops, vote, go to war, etc. presumably to protect them from the consequences of all that. This issue seems a thousand times more consequential than most of those but we want to be all willy nilly about it.
That’s just messed up.
Also, a significant number of people who think they’re something they’re clearly not only get to that point via external societal influences that have ramped up in recent years.
A small percentage might actually be born with that affliction but promoting physical alterations isn’t compassion. If a grown adult wants to do that to themselves it’s on them, but give kids a chance.

Seems like Milwaukee has more pressing issues, real issues on its plate like crime, homicides, reckless driving, decrepit infrastructure, zero growth…. but yeah, let’s put energy into this.

There's another possibility: It's both shameless pandering and misguided solutions to a problem that doesn’t even exist!

Exactly. Your elected officials are wasting time and resources with this type of posturing.

I have family in the area.

Why on earth is this a priority?
