Before anyone asks, do NOT enroll your kids in Milwaukee public schools. The typical education is a fifth grade on and there are security guards and metal detectors in every school.

So, I take it that your kid didn't do well in MPS? Or is this third-hand information that you helpfully decided to pass on to us?

Does the term "City Schools" not mean anything? Not to get into any sort of arguement over it, but Wisconsin does allow some flexibility in enrollment. No one forces anyone to go to school anywhere.

I think that's why they invented the Suburbs.

Actually, the quality and safety vary greatly from school to school, so blanket generalizations don't apply.

My daughter and son both go to MPS and my daughter did so well we pay very little for her to go to UMMinneapolis. My son has special needs and I would NEVER send him to a suburban school because MPS offers so much more for him.
iceminx Your post is ignorant and shows you have done little to no research.

You do have to admit it's NIGHT and DAY different from School to School there in MPS. Some are downright scary. And then you have the Schools that are impossible to beat quality wise. Without a road map of how it works it's pretty hard to figure out. I have friends in the city that go to Catholic Schools because they didn't want to go to MPS Schools that they would have had too.

I have very little respect for Pewaukee Schools as they are not even in the same boat as most of MPS Schools. Other schools out there, including Waukesha are on the leading edge. It varries from place to place very much so. I think the No Child Left Behind programs are back firing and leaving some sub-standard programs in it's wake. Oconomowoc gets special mention too as the Suburbs out there are Growing and enrollment is way up. The ripple up effect is taking place...

slamont61- I do agree with you. There are some bad schools in MPS and as you said in the suburbs. When I was growing up my mom put off marrying her second husband because he lived in West Allis and at that time the schools there were very bad and she refused to move us from Shorewood schools. Now the WA schools are good.
I don't care for the blanket statement the original poster made. I did A LOT of research into the schools my kids attended and am/was very happy with the outcome. Research the OP should ahve done. Perhaps name the school or district that makes you unhappy- don't say ALL the schools suck, because that is ignorant and simply not true.
