how many months remain on your lease. there are a few things you could do.
- find someone to rent the apartment out for the remainder of the lease.
-or plain move out and make normal monthly payments to your landlord. this way it wont look bad on your credit report.

or talk to your landlord and tell your situation.

The Laws regarding Landlord Tenant issues in Wisconsin are pretty tough. Any contract can be broken though and your circumstances are as such that it's up to you to try and negociate a way out. Yes sub-leting can work, but most contracts prohibit it. Check the fine print. It may be in your best interest to try and work a deal with the Landlord there.

By the way, as much as they are protected in Wisconsin so too are the Tenants. It is a two way street. I'm by no means a lawyer but do understand that for every event there is a solution. It's possible that your Landlord is a hard case but who knows you may find that they were only trying to protect thier interests and will still work with you. Have you even asked?

It would be a bad decision to up and leave. You would then be held accountable for the entire lease. As it is, you may have some options.

Where is it you are living? Are you in the city? Are you renting from a Company or a regular landlord?

Try calling Neighborhood Legal Services for advice. The Board in Milwaukee can refer you if you can't find it in the Yellow Pages.
