Hey all,

I'm a 25 y.o. female from England, moving to Milwaukee later this month, and so far haven't been able to figure out where to live. I'm quite active, love to make new friends, and party over the weekends. But at the same time, I would like the area to also be safe and quiet at night. I have a budget of $1000 a month including utilities, and NEED covered parking for my car.

Are Upper East Side and Lower East Side my best options? Area around Brady Street might be too noisy at night while Riverwest might not be too safe? Third Ward and Bay View are probably out of my price range and/or boring? These are all I've learned from the many searches I've done here and on Google. But, I still haven't been able to make a decision so thought I'd post a direct question here.

Appreciate any help!

East Side/3rd Ward/Bay View. The former is definitely noisy at times depending where you are, 3rd Ward could be outside the budget, and Bay View is too "slow" for some people, but has a few pockets of lots of activity and a pretty strong neighborhood bar scene. Riverwest has its boosters here, but I really think as someone from the UK it might be a bit gritty/seedy for you. It's definitely a fun neighborhood with a lot going on, though.

Stick with the Brady St area, you can't go wrong.

I would go with lower east side / juneautown. That way you have access to Brady street as well as cathedral square and the festival grounds.

Thanks for the responses so far!

By the way, speaking of Juneau Town, what do you guys think about the Juneau Village Towers apartment at 1029 N. Jackson St.? With regard to the surrounding area, and also the apartment itself (katz's maintenance, people, etc).

Ive been in Juneau Village apartments they are pretty nice on the inside, at least the "show" model I looked at. Katz doesn't have the best reputation as a property management company.

I used to live across the street at Yankee hill. The people it knew that lived in Juneau village said their place was not as nice, older building, appliances, etc. the one big plus was there was a big outdoor pool that is pretty awesome in the summer. As I said previously, that area would be my first choice of location.

Thanks! I looked all over Juneau Town & Brady Street area but could not find even one apartment with the things I most want (like a heated covered parking for instance).

But I did find a place near the Whole Foods on N Prospect & E North Ave that has most of what I want. Is that a good neighborhood in terms of safety profile and fun? It's almost a mile north of Brady though.

Thanks in advance for your help! Never imagined it'd be so hard to hunt apartments here!
