I'm thinking that building new skyscrapers may become a thing of the past. More people will be working from home, and not want to work together in close quarters. The world has changed.

This seems a bit far fetched, this isn't the worst disease the world has ever seen.

That's true, but it's the worst a couple generations living now, have seen, and one of those generations is kind of "in charge" now. Just my thoughts on skyscrapers. I could be wrong, but as I said, the world has changed, and it wouldn't surprise me.

Skyscrapers weren't built after 1918-19?

I can offer an opinion...and, actually, I said, that's all it is.

Milwaukee should build a light rail to connect the metropolitan system. The purpose of high towers are to house business offices and headquarters. There's not a lot of headquarters in Milwaukee. I do feel that Milwaukee doesn't do enough to market tourism to outsiders.

Idaho does a damn good job and down here, Boise commercial on YouTube is still on my mind and it reminds me of a civilized Albuquerque. Milwaukee has to do more to compete against other Midwest cities such as

You clearly haven't done your due diligence in this area.

A lot of those aren't actually in Milwaukee, and those that are might not have enough need for more skyscrapers than what's already there.
More tall buildings aren't going to get built unless Milwaukee has a population/relocation boom of some sort.

I partially agree with the work from home argument. Not necessarily because of Covid, at least not for the long run, but because technology negates the need to leave home for work for a lot of people. Companies might realize it's a lot cheaper not having a massive building to keep up with.

Milwaukee doesn't need more skyscrapers to be taken seriously as a big city. It's standing in the world is is just fine concerning its size. Primarily, the city needs to work on the crime problem more than anything. Other than that, Milwaukee is pretty cool.

I understand that these aren't all corporate headquarters that are directly in Milwaukee, but the point was that there *are* plenty of corporate headquarters here. They don't have to be in skyscrapers downtown.

With the shift of teleworking, more and more employers are dumping large corporate campuses and buildings, as their usefulness has passed. They're also vacating leased space in places like downtown skyscrapers, making these buildings less and less useful.

Milwaukee is just fine.

Those 14 or so companies aren't even enough to fill ONE SKYSCRAPER. The key to booming in Milwaukee is to develop ethnic, cultural tourist sites. Areas with ethnic restaurants, arts and lounges. Even night comedy areas and things unique. Milwaukee isn't as bummy as other cities are so you just need to work yourselves up. It's doable.
