Are there many apartments avialable downtown? If so how much would a 2 bedroom on the average cost? How would the living situation be?

It depends on what you are looking for. There are very cheap apartments downtown and there are medium-range decent apartments and there are expensive trendy apartments. There are plenty of apartments in all price ranges.

Isn't this kind of an obvious question? living downtown is just like how one would think it is. As far as cost for a 2 bedroom I would say 1000+
