One random question I have.

To me, it seems as though whenever a project of over 5 stories is proposed for the edges of downtown, people (esp. east side residents) seem to cause a commotion. If you choose to live close to downtown, this sort of thing should be expected, wouldn't you think?

I agree completely! It's also like the family that buys a house on Calhoun RD in New Berlin and expect it to stay as a two lane road their whole life. Not realizing that when you live on a busy street that traffic will only increase and the road will have to be widened. These people are idiots in my mind.

What are people opposing now? I live on the lower east side and don't recall.

There was a project on either Lyons or Pleasant St that was supposed to be 5 stories but b/c of citizens complaints they scaled it down to 3. I don't know if this is the same project he is referencing.

I was just making a general notice of something.

But, one thing I can recall recently is the proposed Mercy Housing Lakefront building.

It was only supposed to be 9 stories but they are facing tons of community opposition to having it built. They are strongly lobbying for a lower height.

They had the same problem on Downer Ave where Boris and New Land Enterprises wanted to put up a 10 story building.

I believe I just saw a hit and run victim on 2ND street between National and Walkers Streets. It was moments after it happened b/c only a few people where there and no cops or help yet. I just got back and they have the whole area tapped off. I hope the guy made it, he looked really bad.

On a related note, we residents of this area have been hammering for more lights in Walker's Point, people fly on 2ND street and with it being poorly lit we knew this would happen sooner or later.

I've been enjoying, however the humidity could go down a bit. This morning is the first time in a while I've had the A/C off and the windows open. Will be a good day to get out on the oakleaf and walk to Capitol or Hampton and back.
