Most Kenoshans commute within their own county 56% or within their own state of WI 15%

That is... over 70% of Kenoshans work in Wisconsin. It gets a little old hearing about how "most" of Kenosha travels out of state to work. here's the link.

By definition, 1 out of 3 people is not "most". Compared to Lake County, where only 2% (2 out of 100) people leave their state for work, I'd say that Kenosha is highly dependent on Chicagoland.

What is somewhat interesting, is that 45% of Kenosha leaves the county for work, while 33% of Lake County, works out of the county. A few more percent and "most" Kenosha residents will be leaving the county for work, meaning that "most" Kenosha residents will depend on sources of income outside of their own county.

The state line is little more than a convenient tool for the "Wisconsin vs. Illinois" people to use when taking shots at each other.

Is Kenosha really "highly dependent" or surprisingly non-dependent????? Especially since it's on the border and linked to the Metra?

70% staying in Wisconsin seems to buck the theory that Kenosha relies heavily on Illinois for work.
Lake County IL is actually more "dependent" on Chicagoland according to your numbers. After all, they are a part of Chicagoland, just like Kenosha is, but they are closer in most cases and have much more business opportunity within their own county & nearby.

I think what is much more surprising that 3/4 of Kenoshans work within Wisconsin and not Illinois. I think that's where the person who posted this was going, since people like to off-handedly claim that most of Kenosha work down in Chicagoland, which isn't even close to the truth according to this.

Leaving the county for work just means they are working in places other than Kenosha County, it doesn't mean they are working in Illinois.

Default Not a member?

Are you guys having a trolling contest or something? I don't understand the fascination that's drawn all sorts of new participants (read: screen names, not to be confused with different people) to contribute to Wisconsin threads that also involve Illinois.

Seems like the fascination is on your end when you post stuff like this. and the poster known as Milwaukee City, who responded to his own post (Kenosha vs Racine) 6 or 7 times before anyone responded to it. Obsession? He's so misinformed that he thinks there is Amtrak station in Kenosha

Having reputation here is like having reputation in prison, where you've prbably spent some time if you get upset that easy. i'd tell the same to Milwaukee City but you are probably are him. Sooooo.

I would say the Chicagoans here are the ones with more of an obsession. Look at you guys chasing this troll and hanging on his/her every post. Seems you all have OTD. Obsessive troll disorder.
You have to wonder why some of these people feel so threatened by a City Data troll. Must not be much on TV.
