Hi..
I posted here a week or two ago mentioning I am moving out that way in the fall (from California)
Asked about laces not too far from the airport.
Got lots of response and good ideas. Thanks for that.
I think we will land up either in The Edina/Richfield area..or down in the Savage/Burnsville area.
Renting a house or townhouse...for now.

My next question concerns charter schools..specifically local ones that cater to a homeschool/home study curriculum.

My son is twelve and is going into 6th grade. He has mod to high functioning autism and this year I was starting to homeschool him.

Currently I am signed up with a local state approved charter school. It provides me with a teacher representative and a curriculum to follow.
I was hoping to find something like that out there.

Does anyone here know of one in either of those areas?

I hadread there is a charter school specifically for kids with autism there, but I fear it has a long waiting list.

Public school is not an option for him, as it really overwhelms him and shuts him down, these days.
He just can't fit into that 'box' anymore and I don't want to make him try.(he's been through enough)

Any help or info you could provide is much appreciated,
Thanks,

There are several districts that have schools specifically for students like your son. Our neighbors have an autistic son who is 12 and they love his school. He has made amazing progress over the years. I am not aware of any school that provides curriculum to homeschooling parents. I am going to leave this post here but I would also suggest that you post this on the special needs board under the parenting section. They may have suggestions. I know our district has a special ed school as well as a special program for autistic kids in another school.

The charter is called Lionsgate Academy, it's fairly new. I know nothing other than it's for autistic kids. It's in Crystal/Robbinsdale.

I've heard good things about Connections Academy but have no personal experience with it.

I do Minnesota Virtual High School, Online public charter school
Minnesota Virtual School Welcomes You!
And its listed on the Minnesota Depart of Education's website under certified online schools

Everything is online but you should be motivated to work and such, because it may be hard for some to sit down and work a couple hours everyday when you can easily do anything else in your home. They got instant message to contact teachers or email or phone and teachers call you all the time to make sure you're doing good and if you have any questions. Since its a public state funded school its free and everything, I also got a laptop sent out for free I send back after graduation to do your work on.
