I live in St. Paul and I really like my neighborhood, but I have had trouble with people from the neighborhood allowing their dogs to pee in my yard. I have asked people nicely a few times to not allow their dogs to pee in my yard since I am trying to re-grow my grass that is bare in spots from various dog peeing incidents, but it seems like it is a never ending trail of dog pee and me replanting the grass. Does anyone know of a way to stop dogs from peeing in my yard?

I've never had to use it but I've seen products in PetCo that are specifically for keeping dogs and cats away from outdoor areas, i.e., lawns or bushes.

It's worth a try.

We used some stuff to keep our cats from scratching our furniture and it worked well, and it was hard to pick them up and set them on the couch because they hated it so much. Maybe try something similar for yards. It sucks that people have to be that rude.

Are the dogs in the house next door and come over to your yard frequently to pee? It takes a LOT for dog pee to kill grass. Chances are you have a fungus or something. There is one that is spotty that looks like a dog peed all over your yard. I know some friends had an issue with this and thought it was from their dog but it wasn't. We have a dog and no spots in our yard at all from her.

Exactly. My dog pees in the same spots in the same yards (including ours) every day and he has yet to kill any grass.

No Golfgal, it is just dogs passing by, not the direct neighbors. However, we do have alot of people with dogs that walk by our house and all the dogs seem to pee in the same spot by our apple tree. It may be a fungus, I will have to check into this more. Thanks for the help.

I have a ton of dog walkers by my house as well, but have never had a problem with the grass. It seems like a losing battle to try to get dogs to stop peeing in a certain spot, if they have shown great preference for it. Can you try doing something different with landscape or plantings if possible, rather than replanting grass all the time. Grass is overrated anyway....!

Ok I sprinkled lime on the bare spot to fix the PH and I re-planted grass, but also added a mini-fence to stop the dogs. I will update when and if the grass starts growing. Thanks for all of the suggestions.
