Hi. I have to agree with Gibby, I'm not sure if you're being "street", you know, cuz you're on here, or if you really write like that. You're going to have to clean up the English grammar. When you say things like "are there anyone else" rather than "is there anyone else", it begs one to wonder how your English is...I say this with kindness because I hope for those without jobs to get jobs. If I were you, whatever letters/resumes you are sending to people---have someone proofread these. When you interview, play your skills UP. If they ask if you know SPanish, simply say you are not fluent in Spanish but you're interested in learning or that kind of thing. Say what you are good at, what your talents are (calming situations down, talking with low economic parents, etc).

You should try to get, at least, an internship with a school district. I know the school district I work for regularly takes in SOcial Work interns. We hire them too. Try Minneapolis Public Schools, Bloomington, Richfield, etc. Not the county, but the school districts.

Good luck!

Get a masters in social work. Become a licensed clinical social worker. When you finish in two years, the job market could very well be different with different political people in office now.

And, I agree with GolfGal, the employment market in Minnesota is better than quite a few other places. It has a diverse industry and economy. Do a Google search and compare unemployment rates for the states, and this can be done over time, too. There are places where some states were still higher when Minnesota was very low. Minnesota has more often run below that of other states with regards to higher unemployment.

And, some experience in addition to the degree is beneficial. It's been my experience that the experience is just work experience outside of college.

Also consider counties outside of the immediate metro. I agree though, when you are representing an agency or a government program you need to use proper grammar.
