Wow those pictures are awesome! I remember that status when the blizzard hit us in Maryland last winter.
Good luck & stay warm & safe. I know the kids are happy.
I wonder what the winter snow outlook is for us in the Maryland area?

It was a true description of Minnesota Nice. Our street was impassable so everyone who had them brought out the snow blowers and the rest shoveled behind them so we could all get out. We pushed cars of neighbors whose cars just wouldn't handle it and all in all, reminded me of why I still live here in this weather.

I totally agree. I used to live in So Cal and it is a hell-hole. I do admit that I like my Christmas' with snow; of course, you guys got too much.

We haven't had that much snow in Anchorage this year. We didn't get our first real snowfall until early November and we usually get snowfall in early-mid October.

Disagree. I am from Minneapolis and just moved to LA in July. Today was a perfect day at the beach and I got 3 solid hours of surfing in!

I don't miss Minneapolis at all. Yes, I have family and friends there, but there is more to life than shoveling snow and scraping ice from Nov - April.

All of those activities require hats, gloves, scarfs, snow, freezing tempts, etc... I always had a hard time enjoying those things because I was always cold.

Trust me, people in LA are plenty happy with the 82/sunny day we had on Venice beach today, so no, it doesn't suck to be us. We feel bad for you guys.

This weekend you have had holiday parties canceled, snow plows stuck on the side of the road, football games postponed, airport and MOA closed down...

But hey, if you enjoy shoveling your car out of 17 inches of snow, by all means, stay there.

Could not agree more. You begin to wonder why you spend your life dealing with this nonsense. This feeling becomes especially pervasive when you've just had 20 inches of snow dumped everywhere. Oh, I know why: because Minnesota is the greatest place on earth.

...seems to me this is the earliest Winter, as far as snow cover not melting, since the early 80's or earlier. Seems it started this year before thanksgiving and hasn't stopped? When I lived there, that was the expection and not the rule....could there be record snowfall this year?

My common joke is that "I am in favor of global warming"

Snow is at least 3+ feet along roads from plows/shoveling. If we have much more there will be no place to pile it up. Many intersections are already really hard to see any cars from the snow piles.

Here are some more pictures:

This was yesterday morning after the plows came through:

These are on our deck where we measured 24" of snow. We had to shovel a path for the dog to get out:

I put a box of cereal down for size reference:
