If you look at how Miller Park in Milwaukee,WI is built, you might understand. Ford Field in Detroit is a domed stadium and it is doing fine. Personally, I like domes. It depends on the material you make it from.
Yes, I agree. They should rebuild the dome out of steel.

This isn't the first time that the metrodome roof has collapsed.

Seeing as how I've lived in the Twin Cities for 35 years and never seen a Vikings game live, I don't really have a dog in this fight. But - dang! - that's an impressive puncture. Like folks have said, the Dome collapsed a few times in its early years. Once the rip was caused by somebody's snow shovel ripping through the fabric of the roof.

As for the possibility of them moving to LA, I say, so what? Let 'em go. I couldn't care less.

Chicago, Green Bay, Buffalo, Denver, New England all play outside? Why do we need a dome or retractable roof? I didn't see empty seats at Soldier Field yesterday. We need a new state of the art outdoor Vikings stadium asap (ala Target Field). Weather is part of football. DOMES SUCK!

I would love to meet up against New Orleans, Atlanta, Tampa, Arizona, San Francisco or even St. Louis in a NFC Championship game up here in MN in January outside. That is what you call home field advantage.

outdoor football.....the way the game was intended to be played.

It could defintely have posed some serious issues if the game had been underway with a capacity crowd when the roof failed. You should see the concourses in this place. They are about 1/4 the size they should be. You literally can not make it down them without bumping into people. If there were ever ANY kind of panic in there it could be real deadly. Wonder how the insurers feel about that inflated piece of crap.

We saw lots of emptey seats at Soldier Field yesterday a lot of folks were commenting on it and how hard the ground must be as it's frozen.
Maybe you need a high deff T.V.?

An open air arena in MN is just silly.
Look at the new ball park.
They said it would be ok as it doesn't rain that much. Then the first game is postponed because of rain, and a few games after were postponed also.
