Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here and am looking to buy my first home. I grew up in Richfield, but have lived elsewhere around the twin cities for the past 10 years or so. I remember always loving the Nokomis area, but am wondering how safe the neighborhood is these days. I've been looking in Richfield off of 66th and bloomington area -- right around where they put in the new(ish) Target and Home Depot, and Nokomis area around 35th Ave and 54th St. If anyone can give me some insight into what these neighborhoods are like, it would really be appreciated!

Other than major airport noise, that area is fairly safe, busy, but safe.

Yeah, I guess I'm not overly concernced about airport noise. Again, I grew up in Richfield, and even looking at houses, I didn't notice it until I'd specifically listen for it. A few of the houses we are looking at have the MAC updates, so they are pretty sound-tight inside at least.

I saw another post by someone saying to stay away from the Bossen Apartments as there is a lot of crime around there. Just wondering if 54th st/34th ave is getting a little too close to that area... It felt like a nice neighborhood driving down 54th, but that was all of about 5-10 minutes in the middle of the day.

No, 54th is fine. I live on 55th & 34th, and you really don't notice anything until you're smack dab on top of Bossen Terrace. Even then its not too bad, but I wouldn't want to live in that immediate area. I see people walking around at night on 34th all the time from my front door. Its a bit gritty right around Hwy 62.
