Hahaha Arizona.

Can't tell how old you are, so I'm not sure what "living here my whole life" involves.
I've lived in Minnesota for 60 years and have reached the point where I can't stand it anymore. Fortunately, I'm nearing retirement and I will have some options.
For me, it's entirely weather related. The freezing cold. The four month mess that is snow, ice, sand, salt, slush, etc. etc. etc. The frequent overcast that extends from late fall to early spring.
For me, the Southwest has the most appeal. Warmer winters and 300 days of sunshine. Summers can be a bear, but I think I could make the trade.

I'm not sure I can do another winter. 44 of them between here and Northern Wisconsin. It really is the most miserable of seasons.

I'll take the rap on the snow etc., but to complain that it's overcast here? That's just off base. You know that one reason it gets so cold here is that we have a lot of winter days where there is no cloud cover. Me, I'll take the cold sunny days.

Um, 58% isn't THAT sunny. Seattle, which is known for the grey and rain is only down 15% from Minneapolis (43%).

Not that I'm knocking Minneapolis, but I definately wouldn't say Minneapolis has little cloud cover. That place is cloudy, half the time!

I don't think you're reading the table correctly. Minneapolis is about average I terms of the number of sunny days. Seattle would be half way between Minneapolis and the least sunny place in the country. The winters here are definitely NOT cloudy. There are an unusual number of sunny days here in the winter especially compared to, say, Portland where this discussion started. That's one reason it's so cold. I don't care if people complain about the weather and I don't much care if the complainers move. Actually, I encourage them to do so. But I'd like to see some basis for what are supposed to be factual statements. That was not the case here.

Minneapolis winters are not cloudy. I'm from Michigan - that's a cloudy winter. It's not uncommon to see 100+ days with no sunshine in Michigan.

Especially if you are young, go for it now. Get it out of your system while you can. It will open your mind, get you new experience and perspectives, and make you appreciate MN that much more when you decide to return. Go for it.

ha ha ha, you've caught on to that California version of math rather quickly.
