There are enough settings with today's thermostats to ensure effecient heat/ac usage. Most people don't take advantage of these. Or just refuse to put on a sweatshirt while at home. For some reason people like to sit in shorts and t shirt with no socks on at home in winter, then bundle up in their layers in the ac.

Just our lifestyles need to change, which would curb usage a lot.

That's true. I know relocating isn't very easy, but the majority of commutes in this country are suburb to suburb, and most people choose where to live based on where they work, not vise-versa
