I just got back from a visit to Chicago, and I love how late the bars stay open there. Many probably think that adopting the same hours would cause more behavorial problems. However, the younger crowd, such as myself, would love it.

What say you?

They could keep them open but only for old people such as myself, young people should be in bed or doing homework especially on school nights.

There's about a 6 mo to 1 year period in every young adults life where they wish for this, then the phase passes and you quickly realize that nothing great ever happens past midnight. Couple that with a post college 9-5, and you realize you can't stay up past 11:30 on weekends anyway because you're pooped from the week. Or maybe that's just me?

I rarely go to bars these days, and am never out to current bar closing, let alone later, but I think it would be just fine if they had the legal option to stay open later.

Even in my younger heavy bar going days I would have had no need to have them open until 4am. Not sure how anyone could keep drinking until 4am and still be able to walk let alone drive - not to mention what kind of other behavioral and physiological problems they might have after all that drinking. The only people I've known who could drink continuously like that and still be fairly functional were alcoholics.

This would be great for people who work nights. If you get out of work at midnight last call comes pretty early.

I don't think it would be the best idea to allow neighborhood bars to be open until 4am...some people do eventually like to be asleep by that hour. However, if there are zoning restrictions that allow bars in some areas (like downtown Minneapolis) to be open until 4am I would be open to the idea. That is really the only place I think it'd make alot of sense.

True. I don't think all bars should across-the-board be allowed to be open until 4 am. But in some areas, such as downtown (and perhaps some other locations) it makes sense.
