Hi....does anyone know the REAL border of East and West Bloomington?? I've heard France, Penn, 35W and Nicollet. And does this border REALLY exist (or is it just an old marketing ploy as I've heard - "Prestigious West BLoomington")? Is there also a South and North Bloomington?? Thanks!

I don't think there is an "official" East/West Bloomington. I think it's just what people refer to the two different sides of the city. I always was under the impression that the commonly known separator of the two sides was 35W but I could be wrong. The two areas are distinct in that the side east of 35W is set up in the same grid system as Richfield and Minneapolis and the side west of 35W is much more absently curvy like most modern suburbs.

The "border" probably travels along school boundary lines more than anything there, I think.

as an E Bloomington native, there was no mistaking that 35W was the line of demarcation between good and evil. No such boundary existed between North & South however.

35W is the commonly accepted border. Although many people on the east side of the High School boarder, which runs along France and Xerxes avenues, affiliate themselves with East Bloomington as well. So, in practice, France Avenue functions as a border between East and West Bloomington.
