Hwy 62 & I-35W interchange (Bloomington: construction, live, move)

Hello,
Remembering how awful this interchange used to be when I lived in Mpls, what is it like these days? Are they doing any work on the roads there this Summer? Is it possible to get from Bloomington to downtown and back using these roads without going completely bonkers? Would it be simpler to go the long way around using something like Hiawatha Ave?

Since they unwove the weave that traffic moves pretty smoothly these days .

Personally I haven't seen any significant improvement since all the construction took place. It still gets backed up in both directions during rush hour between Hwy 100 and Cedar Ave.

I grew up around there and considered it a 'drving challenge'. Especially exiting on Portland. Traffic still seems to be a jam in that area...all the way through the 494 35 interchange.

I would say it moves perhaps slightly better, but you'll still have some delay during rush hours. If you could handle it before, you'll be okay now. Keep in mind, from someone who drove those roads much of my driving life, it takes a little bit of getting used to to learn the lane you need to be in for the road you want.

Hopefully we won't be driving thro there during rush hour, mostly just getting from A to B for tourist-type stuff. Making a short trip back to the Cities after 6 years away and I always used to drive to places from Highland rather than Bloomington.

We live right off the commons. It gets congested when everything else gets congested, partly because the un-tangle hasn't added lanes. But the untangle's been a huge improvement. You no longer half have the drivers needing to switch lanes.

Teah they seperated 35W and Hwy 62, but the Hwy 62 is still backed up since there isnt alot of room to expand the lanes
If you take 35W from 494 to 94, its flawless
It's not as confusing as it was before, especially for out-of-towners

The exit from 62 going east to 35 north is greatly improved. It used to back up for miles during rush hour.

Same with going west on 62 to 35--there are now 2 lanes to exit on 35 and 2 lanes to stay on 62--makes things move a lot better. What remains the same is the driver feeling the need to go 40 in a 55 or no believing that the lane really DOES end and ignores the signs for the past mile and a half. Oh, and going south on 35 to 62 east--you really need to be in the lane to the LEFT of the lane they say you need to be in on 35--they need to fix that sign....
