Defensive; No - Realistic; Yes

Your claims of a 9 month winter simply have no reasoning or evidence behind them. To mid westerners that are familiar with the typical season of the upper mid west, your clams are clearly dramatizations. To those looking on City Data for real information about Minnesota, your post would tend to misinform them of what it is really like here. I am simply trying to set the record straight for those of us that don't think anything under 90F is considered winter.

Complaining about the weather is a time-honored human experience.

Chill out, dude. First off, I didn't claim there was a 9-month winter, that was the OP. Secondly, that is obviously a bit dramatic. The OP knows that winters don't last 9 months, just like he knows the state bird isn't a mosquito.

You can realistically expect snow on the ground 5 months a year in MN (Nov - March) and low temps reaching below freezing 6 months a year (end of Oct – early April). Yes, some years are shorter and some are longer, but that is about average.

The hilarious part is that people will say something to the effect, "Oh, come on now.. MN winters aren't that bad and they only last 3 months" which isn't real information either.

I love Minneapolis and it’s a great city. The winter is brutal. That’s the truth, so get over it.

The mosquito you can ward off with burning lamp oil (try molotov cocktail if you don't have it)... worst case senario, try what I did last summer while reading biography of nathan bedford forrest in a backyard, I grabbed one of my bed sheet and covered my head with it. From personal observations, I think white colours are not as attracting to mosquito as blacks, but I could be wrong grab whatever you have even tie die sheets ...btw so do mighty pollen can be repelled just go back to bad lands.

It was really cool, I was driving around Lake Calhoun when the freeze warning was in affect, at 8:15 am or so, and it was steaming. The lake was covered in abou a foot high of fog, rising from the calm water. I wish I had a camera...
