Nothing quite like that silence. The snow falling and the snow on the ground instulates the sound. Lights look like they glow because of the snow. It's great breathing in that fresh cold air and taking a nice walk at night. Nothing quite like that!

Why not alert people as well about the equal risk of badgers attacking the children while attempting to make a snow angel in the backyard?

Here's what I'm wondering... What do you have against what was said? Why are you nitpicking someone whose only intent was to show a simple concern? Why is this so important for you to hang on to that you can't let it go? It's not like her post was a decree that a mass mailing would be sent to all snowy areas at the tax payer's expense.

You disagree. Fine. No problem. Unsubscribe from the thread and move on. Or just skip the post. Where's your respect and common courtesy? Even if you disagree, an adult response would be, "Thanks for the links. I hadn't heard of anything like that happening before. Still, I don't think it's anything to be overly concerned about." Instead, you jump on the offensive. Notice that she hasn't considered your post worthy of her time? I, personally, do, because snide comments are akin to bullying.

Here's something for you to consider. Those links don't show every time it's happened. You weren't aware that it had ever happened. (And yet still commented - without knowledge - against her.) How do you know her concern might not be based on a personal experience of someone she loves? How insensitive would you feel then?

You haven't come close to proving a snow plow killed a child playing in a snow fort which is what I found to be absurd to call a yearly occurrence. If you're going to try and state that it is a grave danger, at least do better than come up with unrelated events that have nothing to do with what I was initially challenging. In the meantime, I'll continue to comment on what I choose to but thanks for your advice anyways.

Feel free to google it. I never said it happens in MN every year but around the country it happens....

Definitely ice fishing. By the way, can someone recommend good lakes for ice fishing near Twin cities? I just moved here last summer...

For those of us who are still here and living in this icebox what do some of you do to get you through the winter that makes this place enjoyable even though it is cold?
I hardly notice the cold and that coating of snow means my yard work is done for a few months. I'll read more, watch more movies and try to do an hour a day on the treadmill.
