I have to work on Christmas Eve during the time my normal church is having its service (not a fan of these afternoon services anyway on Christmas Eve, always go at midnight) and the one I normally do isn't doing a midnight service this year for some reason (instead an earlier one the night before.)

A few things to consider:

-I'm quite liberal and gay affirming (as are most of the churches in this area)
-I'm not a dress-up person, even on Christmas Eve.
-About 80% of the congregation at my normal church are under 40, while I don't expect these type of demographics everywhere it'd be kind of awkward to be the only millennial in jeans amongst a bunch of dressed up gray hairs. A large younger contingent is nice.

I live in the area between Uptown and Downtown by the way.

The Basilica has a Midnight Mass-at Midnight, with a vigil starting at 11:30.

Check out St. Marks. I haven't been to their Christmas Eve service, but my assumption is that it draws a diverse crowd.

You'll need an Episcopal or UCC church to fit your political requirements -- the Catholic Church is not exactly gay affirming-- so St. Mark's is a good suggestion. I've never been though. Mayflower UCC at 35W and Diamond Lake Rd. has 7 pm and 11 pm services on Christmas Eve and would fit all your requirements. Your post has made me reflect on how we all put so many requirements on how, when, and where we'll meet with God, while he will meet and love us unconditionally. And I do mean all of us, myself included. Merry Christmas.

Excellent response and offers much to think about.
