I have a daughter that is 16 and she wants to get a job for summer. She has done nanny work in the past, has a car and driver license and is very dependable and reliable. She lives in south Minneapolis. Could someone recommend where we should look for a job for her? I have never had a 16 year old kid before so I do not know where to look.
Thanks!!!

I would try the local greenhouses like Bachmann's they are all gearing up for busiest part of the year.

I would put up an ad at your local coffee shop if she is looking for nanny work.

Any interests she has for college/career paths yet? Maybe someone will have some ideas for something more targeted to that?

Good suggestion. The science museum had a lot of HS-aged kids working there last time I was there, too, but I imagine they are volunteers?

The greenhouses are a good idea although they don't go all summer.

Park and rec depts hire kids for summer jobs like concessions and helping with programming. Valleyfair is a good choice as well.

There must be agencies that you can go through locally there. That would be my advice. Otherwise check places local to you, or perhaps neighbors that need a summer sitter. Local pool, nursing home. Maybe help her develop a contact list by you're calling various companies and checking on the hiring policies re: teens. My Grand Son, also 16 in Calif. had looked for a job for months...it seems there they hesitate to hire anyone under 18 because of the liability issues.

care.com has nanny/babysitting jobs listed. There's also a site for minimum wage type jobs - it escapes me at the moment.

Try: grocery stores, gyms, park and rec (lifeguard?), summer camps (YMCA), any place in a mall, target (and other big box stores), fast food, restuarants...the list goes on. They may not all be glamorous, but at 16 you should probably take what you can get...

You can go to websites for these places and look for jobs or go to physical locations and ask if they are hiring. I think at 16 I don't think there are too many restrictions on working so she should be able to find something...
