The state legislature and the citizens of Minneapolis just got rolled by wealthy interests, particular Zygi Wilf and his pawns. Mayor Rybak says the 2013 election will be the "referendum" that the city charter promised Minneapolis voters when the city was going to commit funds to these special interest handouts. So, it is vitally important that every citizen with a vote who considers themselves mugged in this process to vote and to put the yes votes on the matter as their dead last choice for their current office. Whatever voice you have online, citizens, use it to repeat this and add your personal wishes and insights.

Also, one of the faithful councilmembers pointed out that a half percent of tax on taxable items bought citywide goes to this project we didn't want. Do NOT buy taxable items anywhere within Minneapolis city limits. All the Hennepin County suburbs are exempt from that half percent. Take the opportunity to give these cities your business. If you really want to escape the Wilfare Tax (named after the rich recipient of this handout), Roseville charges neither the Twins nor the Wilf Tax.

On balance, I don't think it's worth using public money to fund stadiums, but I'd still rather my money support amenities in downtown Minneapolis than anything in Roseville, even if Minneapolis could have done something better (like invest it in the school system) with the money.

FYI--if you have bought anything in Minneapolis in the past 20+ years, you have already been paying a similar tax for the Metrodome.....

While I would agree that it's time to oust RT and his pals on the council, I would not support any sort of a boycott of Minneapolis businesses. That would do significant harm and not really accomplish anything.

Looking forward to seeing which candidates the Cut-Off-Your-Nose-To-Spite-Your-Face Party puts forward.
